KIDS' FISHING AREA PROJECT

I am delighted to tell you that our long awaited project in the Kids' Fishing Area in Cross Fork is complete. A huge "Thank you" goes out to all who helped.

Note: Click on the images to see enlarged views.

Of course some of those Kettle Creek Screamin' Maggots from Ohio, Ken, Jason, Dam Danny and Mrs. Dam Danny were here. These tireless guys from Ohio (and all the maggots left behind) have been unbelievably helpful to us since our meeting them in May, 2008.

Ken got us the extra Volvo excavator to use, cost free. Without this piece of equipment and Ken to run it, the project could have taken another 2 days as had been expected.
Jeff Lewis and his son, Dean, from Meadville again came to their camp at Windfall and gave us many hours of hard labor.

Jerry Boone, from south of Columbus, Ohio, stayed at the Kettle Creek Adventures Bed and Breakfast as did the Cleveland-area Maggots. I sure hope he will return to help us at our May planting. He is a marathon runner and works very fast. He and Dave Cardellino, board member and owner of K. C . Adventures, were always working without much rest.

There are several KCWA board members who always show up to help and are very appreciated. Special thanks to board member Dick Sodergren for the water and Gatorade in a cooler with ice. Snacks, too. We worked the hottest days yet this summe
r.

Jim Toth brought help from Camp Shiv A Git and a young college guy named Steve can really swing a sledge hammer. "Guru" took pictures for them and will hopefully share them with us. Jim's brother Denny left this life too soon and will have a stone with a plaque at this site. The Toth family is making a generous donation for the project since Denny loved to fish and teach kids to fish.

Our K. C. Watershed photographer was board member Rich Wykoff who could only be there on Monday but check out kettlecreek.org (yes ORG.) soon for his still pictures as well as possible video.

Last but not least were the PA Fish and Boat guys. Of course there is no one easier to work with that the very knowledgeable Dave Keller. His/our helpers were Lance who ran the F&B excavator, Wyatt who ran the skid steer and John who just did everything else needed.

These four made a hot, humid job less unbearable. A recipe is on its way to you soon.
I'm sorry if I forgot anyone. Let me know who I missed and I'll send out another one of these, just shorter. Ooopppsss, Scott Koser, thanks.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU, ONE AND ALL.
Carol
